Yes. Rangehood installation involves a hardwired electrical connection that must be made by a licensed electrician in Victoria. A Certificate of Electrical Safety is required on completion and is a condition of most rangehood warranties. The physical mounting can be done by a cabinet maker, but the wiring connection requires a licensed electrician.
A ducted rangehood extracts air to the outside through ductwork — far more effective at removing heat, moisture, cooking smells and grease. A recirculating (ductless) model passes air through carbon filters and returns it to the kitchen. Ducted is the preferred option where the duct routing is achievable; recirculating is used where duct access isn't possible.
Rangehood installation (electrical connection only, assuming an existing supply point is nearby) typically costs $150–$280. New wiring from the switchboard, or a complex installation requiring co-ordination with cabinetry, will cost more. We provide a fixed price after reviewing your kitchen layout.
