How much does downlight installation cost in Melbourne?

LED downlight installation typically costs $80–$150 per light including the fitting and labour. Replacing existing halogens with LED is generally $60–$100 per fitting. Volume installs (10+ lights) reduce the per-light cost. We provide a fixed price before starting.

Can I use LED downlights on a dimmer switch?

Yes, but the LED fitting and dimmer switch must be compatible — not all LEDs are dimmable and not all dimmers work with LED loads. Using mismatched products causes flickering, buzzing and premature fitting failure. We specify compatible combinations from the outset to avoid this entirely.

How many downlights do I need per room?

A general guide is one 10W LED downlight per 1.4–1.6 square metres of floor area for general living spaces. Kitchens and bathrooms may need more for task lighting. Room height, ceiling colour and fitting beam angle all affect this — we calculate the correct number during your quote.
